Privacy Policy

Last updated October 17, 2026

Atlas is a travel app for sharing where you've been with people you trust. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

What we collect

  • Account: your Apple ID identifier and, if you share it, your name and email via Sign in with Apple; your age range and the region you're in, to apply our age rules.
  • Content you create: trips, check-ins, notes, reactions, who you follow, and the photos you choose to attach to a check-in.
  • Location: the places you check in to. With your permission, your device's location helps suggest nearby places. If you turn on Proximity Alerts, location is also used in the background to tell you when you're near a place a friend saved.
  • Photo library: if you allow access, Atlas reads the dates and locations of photos on your device to group them into past trips. Photos are uploaded only if you save them as part of a check-in. If you import from Google Photos, the photos you pick are copied to Atlas.
  • Push notification token: so we can send alerts you've turned on.

How we use it

To run the app: show your trips and check-ins to the people you choose, suggest and group your past trips, send notifications you've enabled, keep the community safe (reports, blocking, moderation), and meet legal obligations. We do not sell your personal data and do not use it for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Who can see your content

You control who sees each trip and check-in: Private, Close Friends, Friends, or Public. Photo-library scanning and home bases (everyday places you tell us to skip) happen on your device before anything is shared. Accounts of people under 18 get stricter privacy defaults.

Who we share data with

Service providers that run Atlas for us, including Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage), Apple (sign-in and push notifications), Google (only if you use Google Photos import), and Apple Maps for place search. They process data only on our behalf. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect safety.

Your choices

  • Change who sees each trip or check-in at any time, and delete individual trips and check-ins.
  • Turn location, photo, and notification access on or off in iOS Settings, and Proximity Alerts or Ghost Mode inside Atlas.
  • Delete your account in the app (Profile → Delete Account), which removes your profile, trips, check-ins, and related records.
  • To request access to, correction of, or removal of any remaining data, email privacy@getatlasroam.com. Depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK or California) you may have additional rights, which we will honor.

Retention and security

We keep your data while your account is active. Data is encrypted in transit, and access is restricted by per-user security rules in our database. No system is perfectly secure.

Children

Atlas is for people 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13; if you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy and will change the date above when we do. Questions: privacy@getatlasroam.com.
